About Waxing
Benefits of Waxing:
- Smooth Skin: Waxing removes hair from the root, leaving skin smooth and hair-free for an extended period.
- Long-lasting Results: Compared to shaving, waxing provides longer-lasting results as it removes hair from the root, which means hair takes longer to grow back.
- Hair Growth Reduction: Over time, frequent waxing can lead to finer and sparser hair growth.
- Exfoliation: Waxing also exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells and promoting smoother, healthier skin.
- Convenience: Once you establish a waxing routine, maintenance sessions are typically spaced out at longer intervals compared to shaving.
Sugaring is a method of hair removal that uses a paste made from sugar, lemon juice, and water. It's an ancient technique that's similar to waxing but uses a natural, water-soluble paste. Sugaring is believed to be less painful than traditional waxing for some individuals, as the paste adheres less to the skin, reducing the risk of irritation.
The sugar paste typically contains sugar, lemon juice, and water. Some formulations may also include additional ingredients like honey or essential oils for fragrance or additional skin benefits.
Waxing and sugaring can be uncomfortable, especially during the first few sessions. However, discomfort levels vary from person to person and often decrease with regular treatments. For our female clients getting close or being on your menstrual cycle can increase the discomfort of waxing.
There are various types of wax available, including soft wax, hard wax, and sugaring paste. The type used depends on personal preference and the waxer’s suggestion based on the area being waxed.

Pre Waxing Instructions
To prepare for waxing, it's advisable to exfoliate the skin a day or two before your appointment, avoid moisturizing on the day of the appointment, and take a pain reliever if you're concerned about discomfort.
Trimming your hair isn't necessary before going in for your wax appointment.
Hair should ideally be about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long for effective waxing or sugaring. This allows the wax or sugar paste to grip the hair properly for removal.
Yes, you can still get waxed during your menstrual cycle, but some individuals may experience heightened sensitivity during this time.
Post Waxing Instructions
Exfoliating regularly and moisturizing can help prevent ingrown hairs. Additionally, avoiding tight clothing and using products specifically designed to prevent ingrown hairs can be beneficial. Please don’t hesitate to ask your waxer about treating ingrown hairs.
The recommended waxing frequency varies depending on individual hair growth rates and preferences. Generally, waxing is typically done every 2-6 weeks depending on the area needing to be waxed.
- Facial areas every 2-4 weeks
- Underarms every 2-3 weeks
- Bikini/Brazilian every 4 weeks
- All other body areas every 4-6 weeks
Everyone is different, we will recommend when to book next during your visit.
Waxing and sugaring typically last between 3-6 weeks, depending on individual hair growth rates. Over time, with regular treatments, hair growth may become finer and sparser, leading to longer-lasting and sometimes permanent (not guaranteed) results.
Contraindications for Waxing/Sugaring
If you're taking medications, especially ones that affect your skin's sensitivity or integrity, it's advisable to consult with your healthcare provider before waxing.
Some medications, such as Accutane, Retin-A, and corticosteroids, can increase skin sensitivity or compromise skin integrity. It's essential to consult with your healthcare provider before waxing while using these medications.
It's generally safe to wax during pregnancy, but it's essential to inform your esthetician about your pregnancy and any specific concerns you may have.
